L.A. in the Making | Collective Making
at the Autry Museum

Phase 1 is on view now!

On June 28th,
we collaborated to stitch and join colorful granny squares, forming a unique panel that celebrates the diverse perspectives in Los Angeles. The panel will be displayed as an evolving community installation.
Collaborators on June 28th:
Autry Members and Staff, Brittney Austin, October Crifasi, Dolores Gamino, Becky Goodman, Carla Juarez, Surena Marie, Nicole Mork, David Orozco*, Sarah Todd, Darlyn Susan Yee*
* Yarn Bombing Los Angeles Core Members

During our future workshops we will continue adding to the panel installation through introductions to other fiber methods.

Sunday, July 19, 2:00–4:00 p.m.
Enjoy conversation as you make chain and single crochet items with a hook or finger crochet. These items intended to represent familiar features of the Los Angeles landscape will be added to the community installation.

Sunday, August 23, 2:00–4:00 p.m.
Create connections as you learn basic knit and purl stitches with needles or finger knitting. These connecting elements will be used to complete the community installation which will be on view during the Autry’s Annual Block Party.

I want to volunteer!
