The creative community of fiber artists, knitters, crotcheters, and groups responded to the question, “What is a California landscape to you?” by creating individual landscapes to be joined together for the larger yarn bomb exhibition.
Yarn Bombing Los Angeles facilitated this community participation project to encircle the Autry Museum Plaza Rotunda with knit and crochet California landscapes in yarn: California Yarnscape.

Yarn bombing, yarnbombing, yarn storming, guerrilla knitting, kniffiti, urban knitting or graffiti knitting is a type of graffiti or street art that employs colorful displays of knitted or crocheted yarn or fiber rather than paint or chalk.
Yarn Bombing Los Angeles (YBLA) is a fiber arts community that engages thousands of people online, worldwide, and locally in the Los Angeles area. YBLA currently collaborates with city governments, museums, alternative art spaces, and public spaces to create thought-provoking, community-generated public art installations. Yarn Bombing Los Angeles Core Members are: Julie Kornblum, David Orozco, Judy Richards, and Darlyn Susan Yee
The Autry Museum of the American West brings together the stories of all peoples of the American West, connecting the past with the present to inspire our shared future.
Community Workshops
Collaborating with the Autry, YBLA will hold post-installation public drop-in workshops at the museum. These workshops will allow participants to create knit or crochet pieces and add to the "garden" installation.
