FUTURE TENSE
What excites you about the future?
And how does the past influence your future?

Artworks by: Sandy Dingman, Kristen Johannesen, Janet Johnson, Julie Kornblum, Lauri Lundberg Mraz, David Orozco, Valerie Ottaviano, Brian Pea, Linda Ramirez, Judy Richards, Marjan Vayghan, Darlyn Susan Yee.

Yarn Bombing Los Angeles has coordinated a temporary installation of thematic artwork interventions made with fiber, fabric, and fiber art techniques as part of Ultra!, an adventurous new public art exhibition coordinated by Torrance Art Museum. Our collaborating artists activated the iron fence at the Torrance High School created through use of knitting, crocheting, sewing, felting, weaving, and other fiber construction techniques.

We selected the Torrance High School as the site for Future Tense for its rich history and roots extending well beyond its geographic community. The red iron fence is a key element that has allowed flexibility to adhere to various social distancing protocols in place as we planned our installation. The individual artworks are mounted to the exterior of the iron fence and are visible from the street and sidewalk.
